6. The Avengers Are No More

The Avengers have always evolved and changed with every appearance in the MCU. The team from 2012 was different to that of 2015, before Civil War split Earth’s Mightiest Heroes right down the middle just before Thanos’ invasion of Earth.

Though the team managed to piece itself together in a fashion with the help of a Wakandan warrior and a couple of Guardians of the Galaxy, it would appear that Avengers: Endgame has disbanded the titular team. When you think about it, this shouldn’t come as a surprise at all.

Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff are dead, Okoye will have her hands full in Wakanda Forever, Steve Rogers, Clint Barton, and Bruce Banner are retired, with the latter now off-planet along with Captain Marvel, Thor, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Unless Peter Parker teamed up with Scott Lang and Rhodey to make the saddest iteration of the team yet, this was always going to be the case.

There are several questions that are posed by this revelation, however. How will the team come together and what exactly will it look like are arguably the biggest, but what about the Shang-Chi post-credits scene that showed Wong working with Carol Danvers and Bruce Banner? If this isn’t the Avengers, could it possibly be Earth-616’s Illuminati, or is it just a small plot inconsistency?
