MCU: 10 British Villains In Marvel's Cinematic Universe - Ranked Worst To Best
1. Tom Hiddleston – Loki
Despite one Stuttgart resident reminding him that “there are always men like you”, Loki has consistently been the MCU's most unique villain throughout each of his four appearances. Even going so far as to cement the fact that Thor's narrative is nothing without his own, Loki achieves this thanks to the fact that he continually questions what it is that makes a villain in the first place.
While his actions have undeniably dire consequences, he is presented as a sympathetic character who feels betrayed by his own upbringing, and tries to punish those he feels have wronged him. He even sacrifices himself to repent for his crimes, and when subjugating Earth with the help of Thanos' staff the look (and colour) in his eyes show that the God of Mischief is just as much a puppet as Hawkeye and Erik Selvig.
His behaviour on Sakaar is also motivated by nothing more than self-preservation, something shown by his comical cowardly, yet openly honest reaction at being reunited with the Hulk.
Quite literally able to project any image of himself he chooses, revealing the full extent of his grief over his mother's death is perhaps the only time we ever see the real Loki; a man defined by his pride as much as his raw emotion, and who is not only the MCU's greatest villain, but perhaps also its greatest victim.
