MCU: 10 Characters Destined To Leave The Franchise In Phase 5
9. Hawkeye
Sympathy has to be felt for Jeremy Renner; on two occasions it looked like he was taking over a long-running franchise (The Bourne franchise, and Mission Impossible). And when he's not having his leading dreams shot down, he's playing everyone's least favourite archer.
For a long time audiences speculated about a Hawkeye movie; being one of the original six Avengers, it was odd that he and Black Widow hadn't taken leading roles yet. While Jeremy's movie contracts are completed following Endgame, that doesn't necessarily mean he's done with the franchise, as TV series' are excluded.
With a Hawkeye series set to debut in 2021, the character will finally get a leading performance. But let's not discount this as the character staying put in the franchise forever. Rumours and theories have suggested the series will see Clint Barton pass the Hawkeye mantle over to his eldest daughter, thus allowing more of the new generation of heroes to step in while the older walk away.
Whether or not this is true, the likelihood of Jeremy Renner staying for long past his solo TV series is unlikely. Especially if the Marvel series' flop and only one season of each is commissioned.
