MCU: 10 Characters Destined To Leave The Franchise In Phase 5
8. Nick Fury
Since Age of Ultron, Nick Fury's appearances within the MCU has become few and far between. Perhaps that is where the character is best suited, but after completing his nine-picture deal, Samuel L. Jackson's future with the MCU looks uncertain.
With a cameo at the end of Endgame, and a decent chunk of Spider-Man: Far From Home behind him, there's a chance there's still life in the character and given the reveal at the end of the second Spider-Man film, our guess is Nick Fury has a bigger role to play in the movies going forward.
The trouble with guessing the fate of Nick Fury is that he could literally disappear for the entirety of Phase 4, and return in 5 and there would be no explanation needed from him. The character is elusive enough that he can appear whenever and wherever he likes and maybe Sam Jackson knows that.
But as the franchise expands even more than it already has, perhaps it's time for Nick Fury to bow out (and give his command to the likes of Maria Hill or the Skrulls). Sam Jackson is still a huge draw, but even he knows he has to hang up his eye-patch someday.
