It's practically impossible to imagine anyone else in the role of Steve Rogers nowadays, and Chris Evans was reportedly always Marvel Studios' first choice, even offering him the part without asking for an audition.

But funnily enough, Evans actually turned the part down three times before accepting, because the prospect of a nine-movie contract quite understandably intimidated him.

He told Jimmy Kimmel in 2016, "When you have a giant contract, if all of a sudden you're not responding well? Too bad, you've got to suit up again. That was scary."

After speaking with his friends and family as well as Robert Downey Jr., Evans of course came aboard, and the rest is history.

But had that fear taken hold a little stronger, we might've ended up with the long-accepted second choice, John Krasinski (which, honestly, probably would've turned out just fine).
