9. The New Mexico Welcome

Thor obviously has a close relationship with Norse mythology and the Viking Age version of Thor is pretty much exactly where the MCU's invocation of him comes from too. He's the master of thunder and lightning, wields a mace and is described as the "mightiest."

There's a cheeky nod to that link in the New Mexico sequence in Thor, as the fictional town that he arrives at - Puente Antiguo (which means Old Bridge, fittingly considering the Bifrost's importance - when he's cast out to Earth has a sports team called the Vikings.

In the background, there's a Welcome Home Vikings message tying Thor to his second home of Midgard (after the destruction of Asgard in the comics).
