8. Thor Almost Had Another Half-Brother

While Thor has one adoptive brother in Thor, he almost also had another sibling from the comics. Balder the Brave, who is almost as old a character as Thor in the comics was originally planned to join him and his long-term companions the Warriors Three.

It was confirmed on Twitter by Charlie Wen, the former head of visual development for Marvel Studios whp released some concept art from a key scene that would have featured Balder.

According to Wen, in that early version of the script, Balder “had a pretty crucial role” that “[added] another layer of complexity to Thor’s relationships with Loki”. To be fair, he's probably right that it was wrong to include the other sibling in the first movie, but it's still a shame a classic comics character came so close to appearing.

In other near-miss character news, The Enchantress was also initially going to appear in Thor and some concept art made its way online...
