MCU: 10 Greatest Iron Man Moments
7. Call It, Captain - The Avengers
This is a subtle moment massively overshadowed by the events around it. As Bruce offers up the revelation that he's "always angry" and director Joss Whedon blesses us with the shot of the team together, armed up and ready to go, Iron Man says: "Call it, Captain."
It might not have seemed like much then, given everything else that was happening in that moment, but really it is quite a step for the cocky hero.
In that moment, he's accepting Cap's place as the leader of the team and setting aside his ego for the fate of New York. It's a big step given how fragile the pair's relationship had been throughout the rest of the film, and serves as a reminder of just how much Tony had grown as a character since his first outing.
Put it this way - would the Tony fans saw in the first Iron Man step back and take orders from a guy he's nearly come to blows with in the past? Don't count on it.
