MCU: 10 Greatest Iron Man Moments
8. Mentoring Peter - Spider-Man: Homecoming
When Spider-Man (Tom Holland) was introduced in Captain America: Civil War, it set the foundations for what was to come in the MCU, hammering home the fact that the likes of Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow wouldn't be around forever and someone would have to take their place.
What better way to make Spider-Man a full fledged hero than by having him mentored by the very man who set the franchise in motion?
Tony and Peter's relationship remains one of the best in the MCU, and never is it better explored than in Spidey's first solo outing. Trying to prove himself, Peter finds himself unable to save a sinking ferry whilst trying to capture Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton). He is saved at the last minute by Tony, who offers the kid some tough love.
Taking away his suit and offering up his famous "If you're nothing without the suit, you shouldn't have it" speech, Tony lets Peter know how hard it is to be a hero and how he needs to find himself without the suit. It's one of many great moments between the pair, but the best when it comes to Tony slowly passing the baton to the next generation, and passing on what he's learned.
