8. Passing The Baton To Valkyrie - Avengers: Endgame
Thor goes through an awful lot between Ragnarok and Endgame, most of it already touched on in the introduction. With his father (Anthony Hopkins), mother (Rene Russo), sister (Cate Blanchett) and brother all gone, the god became a bit of a mess in the wake of the Snap. He thought he had failed his duty, and slipped into a alcohol-fuelled depression.
Avengers: Endgame gave him a chance to put everything behind him for the first time in years, and with Tony Stark dead and Thanos no longer around to wreak havoc, Thor wanted to be freed of his responsibilities for a while.
In one of his final scenes, he talks with Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and offers her the keys to the kingdom. She doesn't believe him at first, but he insists he needs to go out in the world and find himself.
It's a sweet scene, allowing fans to see how much the big guy had grown over eight years of movies, whilst cementing Valkyrie as an important figure in the future of the franchise.
