MCU: 10 Most Underrated Performances

Fans gush over great supervillains like Loki and Thanos so often, it's easy to forget about the one who started it all. In Iron Man, Tony Stark worked alongside his business partner, Obadiah Stane, oblivious he was planning to seize the company. After the terrorists Stane hired to kill Tony failed, he stole the schematics of the Iron Man suit to create his own armour.

In a nutshell, Stane covets power. Because of how straightforward he is, Stane should feel pretty one-dimensional. But with Jeff Bridges in the role, Stane comes across as entertaining, charismatic, and even likeable. Even though The Dude is better-known for playing heroes, his performance here proves he has a knack for portraying baddies. Portraying Stane with a calm and gentle demeanour, Bridges is still able to come across as callous and downright terrifying.

Bridges doesn't ham it up nor does he underperform. Instead, he plays Stane as a man with a vision who's tired of watching his business partner squander his potential. When he talks about how frustrating it is to watch an arrogant drunk rule the same company he desires, you can understand his motivation, despite how misguided it is.
