MCU: 10 Phase 3 Rumours That Turned Out To Be Bull

7. Angelina Jolie Will Direct Captain Marvel

After the DCEU decided to produce its first female-fronted superhero movie with Wonder Woman it only made sense that Marvel would follow suit with its own much-needed female-centric movie too. And so, we have a Carol Danvers Captain Marvel movie set to hit cinema screens in 2019.

Naturally, the announcement of Captain Marvel led to talk of who should direct such a project with most concluding that a female director would be best for the job. One of the first names bandied about was that of Angelina Jolie by tacky tabloid OK Magazine despite her directing career to date being rather middling and leaning more towards drama than action-fantasy.

Of course, that rumour turned out unfounded but that’s what we get for believing a publication like OK. At least the folk who will actually direct Captain Marvel – filmmaking duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck of Mississippi Grind fame – are 50% female.
