MCU: 10 Returning Characters We're Most Excited About

9. Monica Rambeau

First appearing as an adorable, feisty little girl in 2019's Captain Marvel, fans immediately wondered if we'd see Lieutenant Trouble all grown up in the future. It seemed like a no-brainer.

In the comics, she was Captain Marvel - the first woman to take on the mantle, some 30 years before Carol Danvers took the name in 2012. She's been called Pulsar and she's been called Photon, but most recently, she's gone by the name Spectrum. She's been a member of the Avengers, the Mighty Avengers, and the Ultimates.

All the wondering about her future in the MCU was put to rest when Teyonah Parris (Mad Men, Chi-Raq, Candyman) was cast as an adult Monica in the upcoming Disney+ series, WandaVision. According to leaked set photos, Monica is working with S.W.O.R.D. in some capacity or another. For the uninitiated, S.W.O.R.D. is essentially a cosmic S.H.I.E.L.D.

The organization was teased at the end of Far From Home, with Nick Fury overseeing a Skrull crew on a space station. It looks like Monica - who met Fury and interacted with the Skrulls as a child - grew up to work with S.W.O.R.D., and maybe, just maybe, she'll get powers somewhere down the line.
