MCU: 10 Scenes Actors HATED Shooting
4. Jeremy Renner Wasn’t A Fan Of Hawkeye Being Hypnotised - Avengers Assemble
Long before he was gifted with the opportunity to flex his acting chops as Clint Barton in his own Disney+ TV series or even get dark in the underworld of Endgame, Jeremy Renner wasn't best pleased with the immediate direction Hawkeye was taken in during only his second MCU appearance at the point of Avengers Assemble.
With the highly accurate archer having his mind quickly manipulated by Loki from the get-go, Hawkeye spent a large chunk of that first ensemble MCU flick acting like The God of Mischief's own personal zombie, blindly following orders and throwing spanners in the works for The Avengers to overcome.
When talking to GamesRader about this second showing, Renner simply didn't mince his words:
"To take away who that character is and just have him be this robot, essentially, and have him be this minion for evil that Loki uses... I was limited, you know what I mean?"
Thankfully, Renner would get more than a few chances to play the character he felt he'd signed on to play further down the road. But mind-controlled Hawkeye definitely isn't seen as a highlight for this particular Avenger.
