MCU: 10 Supernatural Heroes Who Could Make Marvel Millions
3. Clea
Fantasy casting: Awkwafina
Just like Brother Voodoo, Twitter leaker Roger Wardell has suggested that Clea will make her MCU debut in Doctor Strange 2. Nothing else was revealed of the character except that she’s set to be played by an Asian actress, so there’s plenty of room for speculation.
Clea is the daughter of another supernatural character, Umar, but he’s unlikely to feature if she’s being introduced alongside Voodoo. With Strange obviously going to have the central narrative, there just isn’t enough space to establish her lore 100% true to the comics.
She is, however, also the niece of Dormammu, which provides a much more tangible link to the first movie. If they want to tie her to the existing universe as they likely will with Brother Voodoo, this is their best bet.
Her powers are not dissimilar to Strange’s, though she’s more fond of energy bolts and mind control than Strange’s portal battle style.
In the comics, she’s Strange’s accomplish/apprentice and occasional love interest, so what her arrival could mean for Rachel McAdams’ MCU future is unclear.
After making serious waves in both Ocean’s Eight and Crazy Rich Asians, Awkwafina could take the MCU by storm.
