MCU: 10 Things That Didn't Go The Way Kevin Feige Wanted
9. Respected Stars Refusing To Appear Or Return
Marvel Studios would have you believe that landing a role in the sprawling ocean of comic book creativity that is the MCU is the be all and end all for just about every thespian plying their trade in the business today.
Yet, the sheer amount of well-known names who have not only turned down appearing in the super-landscape over the last decade-plus, but sometimes even refused the chance to step back into the MCU after an initial outing tells an entirely different story.
From Joaquin Phoenix and Matthew McConaughey passing up on the likes of Doctor Strange and Ego, respectively, to Hugo Weaving and Terrence Howard refusing to return to their roles of Red Skull and James Rhodes due to being asked to take a substantial pay-cut, each of these instances of talented thespians telling Feige and the gang where to go clearly weren't part of the initial plan and forced a serious change in direction in each case.
And while you could argue that the recasting of said roles more than delivered the goods in the end, it was likely a headache the Marvel Studios President wished he didn't have to contend with when all was said and done.
