With Avengers: Infinity War just around the corner, we're going back to where it all started and re-assessing every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie ahead of the big one. So now, it's time to take a look at Iron Man 2.
Released in 2010, the sequel isn't one of the more fondly-remembered MCU follow-ups, even though it smartly reunited the cast with original director Jon Favreau. If Favreau and co. are to be believed, studio interference had a major impact on the final product, stripping away most of its potential edge and ultimately delivering a competent yet workmanlike superhero sequel.
It's hard to believe that a whole eight years have passed since the movie was first released, and it's safe to say that Iron Man, the MCU as a whole, superhero cinema and the world have all changed quite a bit since 2010.
Rewatching Iron Man 2 with contemporary eyes reveals a new perspective on a Marvel movie which was broadly acclaimed by critics at the time, but even the hardcore crowd will have trouble arguing it's anything more than a decent, deeply flawed blockbuster...
