MCU: 11 Things You Learn Rewatching Iron Man 2
11. The First Act Has Almost No Action
It's pretty much Marvel mandate these days that an MCU movie opens with an establishing set-piece of some kind, so Iron Man 2 is one of the few outliers, then, that skimps on the action right out of the gate.
Though Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) does appear in the Iron Man suit early on, this is merely for his elaborate entrance to the Stark Expo, and in fact over half-an-hour passes before fans are graced with the film's first legit action sequence.
Up until the Monaco battle between Iron Man and Whiplash (Mickey Rourke), Iron Man 2's first act is oddly talky, front-loaded with exposition and new characters at the expense of the whizz-bang thrills fans expect in MCU fare these days. Weird.
