Despite the apparent "confirmation", Zandaya is not actually playing Mary Jane Watson. BUT she will be the main love interest for Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming and beyond.

It was always faintly surprising when it was suggested that the Disney child star would be playing Mary Jane Watson - not least because it immediately sparked a dumb-as-concrete tide of outrage about changing the character's race. It just seems like an unnecessary thing to withhold as a secret when you could score positive political points by doing the very thing the bigots complained about.
If she's playing some other love interest, so be it - it's hardly the end of the world for Peter to sow his wild Spidey oats a little before finding his soul mate.
