MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Avengers: Age Of Ultron
2. The Final Battle Is...Exhausting
While on one hand you can't argue that Age of Ultron's final battle doesn't serve up enough insane action, the 25-minute finale is ultimately too much of a muchness, with the relentless battle against Ultron's CGI drones proving more tiring than thunderously exciting.
It's a testament to the fact that less is often more, with Ultron literally lifting a chunk of Sokovia into the sky playing as comically overblown rather than literally awesome.
In addition, random humans are shown being saved just for the sake of it, including an attractive Sokovian woman and her younger brother who Whedon strangely focuses on. And so, despite how visually well-constructed the sequence is, it's easy to start checking out mentally by the mid-way point.
At least there are some great one-liners, namely Hawkeye's "None of this makes sense" and Cap (Chris Evans) instructing his fellow Avengers, "You get killed? Walk it off."
