MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
2. It's Got Stan Lee's Best Ever Marvel Cameo
It's been a long-standing fan theory that Stan Lee might be playing one single character across all of his Marvel movie cameos, with Uatu the Watcher being the most consistently suggested identity of this well-travelled entity.
This theory was kinda committed to canon, then, in Vol. 2, when Lee is briefly spotted hanging out with the Watchers and discussing the time he was a Fed-Ex man (referring to his cameo in Captain America: Civil War). This basically confirmed that, yes, Lee is playing the same character every time.
Though the credits ultimately list Lee as "Watcher Informant" rather than Uatu, it was still awesome to see such a fan-pleasing moment cemented in the annals of the MCU.
Plus, it's a rare Marvel movie where Lee actually appears in two separate scenes (both mid-film and in a post-credits scene). Most Stan Lee cameos these days are pretty arbitrary, but this actually had some effort put into it and had something approaching a real purpose. Bravo.
