MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
10. Gamora Is Totally Wasted
Gamora (Zoe Saldana) felt a little under-used in the first Guardians movie, and James Gunn oddly decided to double down on this in the sequel, making her little more than a fairly dull straight-man for the Guardians' shenanigans, while occasionally tustling with her adoptive sister, Nebula (Karen Gillan).
A lot of the sibling squabbling feels recycled from the first movie - though it does result in a neat North by Northwest-esque fight sequence - and the continued nods towards a potential romance with Peter (Chris Pratt) don't feel particularly earned.
It's also a bit eyebrow-raising that Gamora essentially ends up playing "mother" to Baby Groot (Vin Diesel), especially with how little else she's actually given to do in the movie.
Assuming she survives Infinity War, Gamora desperately needs more character agency in Vol. 3.
