MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching The Incredible Hulk

An incredibly mixed bag.

The Incredible Hulk
Marvel

Our series of rewatching every single Marvel Cinematic Universe movie ahead of Avengers: Infinity War continues with the second-ever MCU film, The Incredible Hulk.

Released on June 13, 2008, barely a month after Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk was devised not only as an introduction for the iconic superhero to the MCU, but also to potentially launch a standalone box office franchise for the hero. However, audiences didn't turn out en masse for the film, and to date its $263.4 million box office haul is by far the series' lowest.

Is it a bad movie, though? Absolutely not. It scored broadly positive critical reviews upon release and was certainly an improvement on Ang Lee's middling 2003 effort, but it also feels like a bit of an odd relic in the context of the MCU, especially given the main personnel change that took place shortly after the film was released.

It's full of flaws, but it was a step in the right direction away from the Lee movie, and eventually led to the fantastic iteration of the Hulk that graces our screens nowadays. So, don't hate on it too much, OK?
