MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching The Incredible Hulk
4. Tim Blake Nelson Was Totally Wasted
The terrific Tim Blake Nelson appears in the movie as Dr. Blue aka Dr. Samuel Sterns, a well-meaning but overzealous cellular biologist who is collaborating with Bruce on a cure for his mutation.
Sadly Nelson doesn't get much to do beyond play the nerdy scientist stereotype, and even though the film clearly hints at greater things for the actor when he's infected by Banner's blood and his head starts to pulsate, this ultimately never amounts to anything.
Indeed, Nelson was going to play Sterns' villainous comic book alter-ego The Leader in a potential sequel, but because the movie tanked at the box office, all plans for another Hulk movie were quickly scuppered.
Nelson deserved better, and sadly, the same thing even happened to him in 2015's awful Fantastic Four movie. Again, his talents were thoroughly squandered and the nod towards him playing a significant future villain - this time the Mole Man - went nowhere because the film bombed.
