MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching The Incredible Hulk

5. The Hulk Design Hasn't Aged Well

Though the actual Hulk effects themselves haven't aged too badly, the overall design of the Big Green Dude doesn't really stand up to scrutiny in 2018, especially following the smart redesign of the character for The Avengers.

There are several clear issues: firstly the 2008 Hulk isn't overtly based on Edward Norton's own appearance, in much the same way that the 2003 Hulk didn't really resemble Eric Bana either. Compare this to the newer Hulk, which clearly bares many of Mark Ruffalo's own facial features, and it's basically a no-contest.

It's also a bit offputting that the Norton Hulk has this odd sheen to him throughout the movie, as though he'd been bathed in baby oil before every scene. The more "realistic" skin tone of the newer Hulk is just leagues ahead of it, and makes this version look really quite dated.
