If you haven't seen The Incredible Hulk since it came out, you'd be forgiven for not realising that the film has some incredibly overt nods to Captain America: The First Avenger, which of course didn't release for another three years.

When General Ross is talking to Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth), he explains that he has been attempting to resurrect the famed super-soldier program from World War II in order to create the ultimate weapon, which is what led to Banner becoming the Hulk in the first place.

Blonsky is himself injected with the serum in an attempt to bring the Hulk under control, and while back in 2008 it was easy enough to take the serum's presence at face value - especially if you weren't a comics fan - a decade later, it's genuinely surprising how early on the MCU established Cap's origin story.
