MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Thor: The Dark World

8. Most Of The "Humour" Doesn't Work

While there are some jokes that do indeed work in this movie - most of Loki's quips, Dr. Selvig (Stellan SkarsgÄrd) expressing thinly-veiled joy at Loki's "death" and Thor taking the tube to Greenwich - most of it sadly falls depressingly flat.

The worst instances include Jane Foster's date with "Richard" (Chris O'Dowd), the ever-irritating presence of Darcy (Kat Dennings), the introduction of her intern, Ian (Jonathan Howard) and Selvig running around Stonehenge naked.

When people complain about the MCU sometimes being unnecessarily humourous solely for its own sake, this is what they're talking about. Nobody wants a dour, stern Thor movie, but if this is the best comedy the writers can come up with, it's mostly best left on the cutting room floor. Oof.
