After the release of The Avengers video game, in which Kamala Khan was the main protagonist, she is arguably one of the better known superheroes within the mainstream not yet introduced to the MCU. This will all change, however, as Iman Vellani will bring her to life on Disney+.

Kamala is a Pakistani-American Muslim teenager, she is nerdy, and a superfan of Carol Danvers. All of this was made clear from the first few seconds of footage on Disney+ Day, and from her wonderful home made costume honouring her hero, to a deeper exploration of her family and culture, there is a lot to be excited about with Ms. Marvel.

This will only be the beginning of Kamala’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as she is rumoured to be appearing in 2022’s The Marvels, alongside her hero Carol, and of course Monica Rambeau. This series should give her the perfect platform to go and stand side by side with these incredible, already established characters.

It was originally thought that Ms. Marvel could be the next series to hit Disney+ after Hawkeye. With confirmation that it won’t hit the streaming platform until the summer of 2022, there is still a little while yet before this fan favourite joins the larger MCU franchise.
