MCU: 13 Things You Learn Rewatching Ant-Man

9. The Comedy Is Right Up There

While Thor: Ragnarok has made a more recent play for the Funniest MCU Movie title (mostly thanks to Korg and that Bruce Banner "hero moment"), Ant-Man's humour is right up there with the best of the franchise.

Sure, Lang's "gang" might have made some people feel a little uncomfortable with its flirtations with stereotypes, but Luis in particular is an absolute joy. Michael Pena's performance is probably one of the most charming side-kick characters in any comic book movie and he's genuinely very funny.

And there's various different levels of comedy in there: the best often comes unexpectedly, like Lang batting Cross into the bug zapper with a ping pong bat or the Thomas the Tank scene, Crucially, too, none of it feels shoe-horned in, as some other MCU movies have been accused of doing to fit a family agenda: with Reed directing and Rudd starring (with Pena), it feels more organic.
