MCU: 15 Majorly Dumb Plot Holes You Never Noticed
8. The Super-Solider Serum - Captain America: Civil War
Abraham Erskine is the man responsible for creating the Super Soldier Serum that gave birth to Captain America. Because Erskine never wrote down the formula for his creation before he was assassinated, the secret on how to recreate it supposedly died with him.
But in Captain America: Civil War, it's vaguely mentioned that Howard Stark knew how to manufacture Erskine's Serum, which Zemo uses to create his own Super Soldiers. So, when did Howard learn how to do this? The tv series, Agent Carter, focuses on Howard's life shortly after Erskine is killed. It's never mentioned or implied that he knows how to reproduce the Serum.
You could argue that the viewer shouldn't read too much into this trivial plot point so they can enjoy the movie. However, we learn that Zemo never intended to create Super Soldiers and only stole the Serum to mislead Captain America about his intentions. Because this entire story arc turns out to be a red herring, it makes it all the more confusing and pointless.
