18. Chad L. Coleman (Black Panther)

Though Chadwick Boseman claims he was offered the role of Black Panther in 2014 without even auditioning, The Wire and The Walking Dead star Chad L. Coleman was apparently also briefly considered by Marvel Studios.

Would It Have Worked?: Though Coleman is just a few years Boseman's senior, he looks decidedly older, and doesn't have quite have the same dignified quality that Boseman does.

Furthermore, considering that Coleman courted controversy in mid-2015 when he went on a public rant on a New York City subway train, Boseman was clearly the safe, smart choice for the part. The success of the Black Panther solo movie only bolsters how right this decision was.
