12. Jason Momoa (Drax)

Jason Momoa auditioned for the role of Drax the Destroyer, and made it far enough that Marvel Studios even commissioned concept art based on his likeness.

However, he ultimately left the running after deciding that he didn't want to be typecast as a "brute", having previously appeared in the likes of Conan the Barbarian and Game of Thrones...only to be cast as Aquaman a short while later.

Drax eventually went to Dave Bautista, who ended up becoming one of the MCU's most unexpected show-stealers.

Would It Have Worked?: Definitely. Momoa has the look and the moxie to pull it off, even if his Drax probably would've been quite different from Bautista's, and nowhere near as hilarious.

Momoa's great in the Aquaman role, though, so it clearly all worked out for the best.
