MCU: 5 Best & 5 Worst Villains So Far
1. Loki
The undisputed best villain of the MCU is Loki, and not just because he is played by the excellent Tom Hiddleston. First introduced in Thor, back in 2011, Hiddleston’s character is held in high regard with the mystery that surrounds him building with each instalment. At times, he seems to be on Thor’s side and willing to put his loathing of his sibling to one side. But, on the other hand, he remains hellbent on destroying humanity and seems he will do anything to achieve his goals.
And that predictability makes him so, so intriguing for audiences. He tried to destroy Earth in the first Avengers, seemingly redeemed himself at the end of Thor 2 and then, in Thor: Ragnarok, helped Thor and the Asgardians escape their burning home - only to make time to take the all-important tesseract. Going into Infinity War nobody knows what his true intentions are and, if he hands the tesseract over to Thanos, it may not necessarily mean him turning his back on Thor.
There is also a likability to Loki that not all villains have. He wears his heart on his sleeve - as proven when Frigga is murdered in Thor: The Dark World. However, with Thanos coming to town, we have a feeling that Loki’s time in the MCU may be about to end sooner rather than later. So savour him while you can…
And now on to the ones who didn't do so well...
