MCU: 5 Times Iconic Comic Characters Were Replaced In The Movies
1. Hulk Replaces Silver Surfer
Poor Silver Surfer. Once again Norrin Radd is benched for reasons beyond his control. In the early stages of the MCU's Infinity War, after being catapulted to Earth by Heimdall, Bruce Banner crashes into the Sanctum Sanctorum and begins to warn Dr. Strange about the coming of Thanos.
In the comics, this warning comes from Silver Surfer. Unfortunately for Dr. Strange, in both instances his home is trashed by the arrival of the messengers. Another glaring difference is that Silver Surfer had been travelling with Drax before crashing on Earth, whereas Hulk was with Thor.
Drax was made to kill Thanos but he cannot now that The Mad Titan has the Infinity Gauntlet, making Surfer's warning even scarier. Banner's warning is similar in the MCU, as he believes Thor to be dead. In both cases the people who are believed to be powerhouses capable of stopping Thanos are left behind by the messengers and presumed defeated.
It's a shame Norrin isn't in the MCU for this as the Silver Surfer's employment history shows him as being a very capable herald.
