MCU: 6 Places Shang-Chi Could Turn Up Next

There are several franchises in which Marvel's newest hero could show his face.

For the first time since Captain Marvel in 2019, the MCU has introduced a new hero with their own solo movie. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has garnered critical acclaim for a multitude of different reasons, and is breaking records at the box office on its way to becoming another in the long line of smash hits for Marvel Studios.

It is one of the strongest origin stories the franchise has to offer, possibly the best since Iron Man in 2008, it boasts one of the greatest villains in MCU history in Wenwu, and has some simply stunning, jaw-dropping action sequences. The highlight however, is the titular character, who announced himself as an instantly popular hero within the wider universe.

Everything about him, the movie, and Simu Liu himself have the makings of yet another excellent franchise in the MCU, and particularly with the movie's mid credit scene, Shang-Chi is certain to stick around for a long while yet. But when and where can fans expect to see him next?

There are plenty of upcoming MCU projects announced for the next few years, and reportedly even more being worked on in the background, but which would make the most sense for the newest Marvel hero to appear? Some seem far more likely than others, and it may not be too long of a wait…

6. Eternals

Shang-Chi was the 25th instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while it took this long for the titular hero to make his very first franchise appearance, it may only be another two months before he makes his second. Eternals is slated to release in November 2021, and could feature a glimpse of Marvel’s newest hero.

The first post credit scene of Shang-Chi revolved around Wong, Captain Marvel, and Bruce Banner trying to figure out the origin of the Ten Rings. There is no record of them in Kamar-Taj, they aren’t made of vibranium, and Carol doesn’t believe that they are alien, but what if she is wrong? What if they are of a Celestial’s making?

Wenwu found the artefacts around 1000 years prior to the events of the movie, and since the Eternals were sent to Earth by the Celestials 7000 years ago, the timeline would make sense, and Carol wouldn’t necessarily recognise them. It could be that the beacon within the Rings is calling out to the Celestials, which is what brings them to Earth rather than, or at least as well as the energy created by the Hulk’s snap.

If this is the case, the Eternals could certainly cross paths with the man currently in possession of the powerful objects. Back in the early days of the MCU, one movie’s post credit scene would tease the very next entry in the franchise, and Shang-Chi may have gone back to the old ways in this sense.
