There are very few movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that don’t get sequels. The Incredible Hulk never did due to the rights of the franchise, and Black Widow may not as it was the end of Nat's story rather than the beginning. Shang-Chi however, will almost certainly see a sequel in the future.
There were many who believed that the movie would flop. A character completely unknown to the mainstream, releasing in cinemas only as something of an experiment, there was a belief held by some fans that the movie was being sent out to die. How wrong those people were.
It has since received universal praise, has smashed multiple box office records, and introduced a wonderful new hero to the MCU. Shang-Chi is certain to return in a sequel, most likely to take on his sister and the new look Ten Rings, though this likely won’t happen for a few years.
The MCU slate is chock full of announced projects through as far as 2023, meaning a second solo movie won’t be at the front of the queue until at least 2024 or 2025. If there isn’t room for him in Eternals, the Multiverse of Madness, or Quantumania, this may very well be his next appearance.
