In the third act of The Incredible Hulk, when Emil Blonksy has had enough super-soldier juice and lost too many fights to the Hulk, he mutates into the cognisant anti-Hulk who gives up on his military mission and just outwardly looks for a scrap.
There's nothing wrong with the Hulk v Hulk idea; and Emil's transition into the beast does make for an interesting arc in escalation of him challenging the hero.
But where the character falls down is the fact that Blonsky was far more interesting in his human form. When he was just a super soldier going toe-to-toe with the Hulk, it showed weakness from Banner's other half and determination in Tim Roth's character.
We don't see Abomination again despite him surviving the events, and maybe it's for the best? He was a lacklustre villain that didn't bring much to The Incredible Hulk. But if Tim Roth returned as Blonsky and not as Abomination, that would be a different argument to make.
