MCU: Every Phase 3 Main Villain Ranked From Worst To Best

In the build up to the release of Captain Marvel, Jude Law's role was kept relatively quiet until the movie actually hit cinemas. Yon-Rogg spends the first half of the movie as the titular character's leader and mentor, almost like a father figure, only to be revealed as the villain before battling with Vers at the conclusion of the movie.

Sometimes these twists can be seen a mile away, and sometimes it comes as a genuine shock.

Yon-Rogg's bad guy reveal was more towards the latter end of the scale, though not really thanks to anything he did himself. Directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and the Marvel marketing team did a great job of convincing audiences that the Skrulls were the antagonists of the movie, giving us no reason to question Yon-Rogg's moral compass.

Jude Law's character isn't particularly involved in a lot of the movie. He leads the Kree's mission at the beginning, and returns to fight Carol and the Skrulls at the end, but in between he is seen only scarcely.
