MCU: Every Single Marvel Movie Post-Credits Scene (And What They Mean)
24. Thor: The Dark World: The Collector
The Scene
With Malekith defeated and the Aether back in the possession of the Asgardians, we were treated to a scene set on Knowhere, introducing Benicio Del Toro's The Collector.
Sif and Volstagg appear, ferrying the Aether from Asgard to be kept secure as part of The Collector's collection (as it isn't wise to keep two Infinity Stones together in the same place). Weirdly, once they've left, The Collector says "one down, five to go" to nobody in particular.
What It Meant
As well as introducing The Collector before his appearance in Guardians Of The Galaxy, this one is all about the forthcoming Infinity War. This was the first suggestion that the Stones had to be kept apart for the good of the galaxy.
The strangest thing about this scene is the suggestion that The Collector might be working for Thanos - or that he's out to collect the stones for himself. Neither is really delivered on later, though they might yet be.
There's also a nice Adam Warlock Easter Egg, with his gestation pod featured in one of The Collector's glass display cases.
