MCU: Every Single Marvel Movie Post-Credits Scene (And What They Mean)
13. Doctor Strange: Thor
The Scene
In the mid-credits scene of Scott Derrickson's excellent multiverse mind-bender, Thor appears at Strange's sanctum to answer the good Doctor's questions about the presence of Loki in London. The God Of Mischief has set off Strange's spidey-senses as he's deemed a threat to the multiverse.
Thor reveals that the pair are looking for their father, who has gone missing, and Doctor Strange responds with “Allow me to help you,” refilling Thor's beer in the process. How to make friends, the Asgardian edition.
What It Meant
By the look of it, this could have been lifted straight out of Thor: Ragnarok, as it gives away the fact that Thor knows Loki is alive and that Odin is not in Asgard. Weirdly, it also suggests that Loki isn't actually an outright villain in Ragnarok either - presumably because Hela ousts him too.
The long and short of it is that this confirms that Strange will appear in Ragnarok, and that's probably how he gets his in-point with the Avengers too.
It's also impossible to ignore the suggestion that Doctor Strange has immediately got into an Avengers leadership position: as an overwatching, he's basically making the team accountable to him if they stray into metaphysical areas (which they're bound to increasingly). Is he a ready-made replacement for Tony Stark?
