9. Ant-Man - The Wasp

Ant-Man is a far more entertaining, far more charming film than it had any right to be - mostly because of the production process - but thanks to a combination of a great cast and an eye for inventive set-pieces, it all came together rather wonderfully. And there was always going to be a sequel, no matter how small scale the film was compared to the rest of the MCU.

That sequel's important difference was established in the post-credits scene, which revealed that Hope Van Dyne was going to be "evolving" into the Wasp in the footsteps of her mother. It meant not only that we were going to be getting a new hero, but also that Marvel were delivering on their promise to have actual female leads in their movies.

When Hope turns to Hank and says "it's about damn time" she meant a lot more than she was happy to be getting her own special suit.
