MCU: Every Single Marvel Movie Post-Credits Scene Ranked Worst To Best

10. Thor: Ragnarok - Thanos Announces His Arrival

Thor: Ragnarok's post-credits scene is unlike any of the other stingers in the MCU in that it's more like a prologue than an epilogue. Because Avengers: Infinity War literally takes up moments after we leave Chris Hemsworth's now one-eyed hero and his merry band of refugees, there's no real opportunity to retcon anything (which Marvel do seem to like doing).

It's a post-credits that begins with hope, with Thor sitting in the captain's chair - doubling as the throne of Asgard, in actual fact - and plotting a course to Earth to establish a new hoem for what is left of his people. And then, because Infinity War was about to happen, it all comes crashing down with the ominous appearance of Thanos' gargantuan ship.

It was a stark reminder of the fact that no matter how funny and enjoyable Ragnarok's image of armageddon had been, something bigger and darker was coming. And given what came next, it helps the gut punch of Infinity War's first scene even more.
