The best Stan Lee cameos fit organically into the story, surprising the audience because they work in the flow of the narrative rather than being awkwardly forced in. His appearance in The Incredible Hulk is so successful precisely because of this.
General Ross is discussing the status of fugitive Bruce Banner and is handed a report about gamma-infected soda, leading him to the plant Banner is working in. We cut to the man who has drunk said soda, and of course, it's Stan Lee.
We can only hope this leads to a cameo down the line of Stan hulking out, Simpsons-style.
