The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been notably lacking a female-led movie and Phase 3 was strongly expected to rectify that issue. In the end, it did rectify it - but not in the way that a lot of people wanted. A Captain Marvel movie (the Carol Danvers version of the character) has been confirmed as one of the instalments in Phase 3, but a Black Widow movie was what the majority of the franchise's fans would have liked to see. Very little has been said of Natasha Romanoff's past in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, while she is set to get a bit more attention in Avengers: Age of Ultron, it really is about time she got her own movie so that the audience can learn more about her. Scarlett Johansson's character has provided ample support in Iron Man 2, the Avengers movie and Captain America: The Winter Soldier and has proven popular enough for a solo outing to be worthwhile and it's a shame that it doesn't look like she's going to get one.
