2. Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man franchise hasn't been as successful as Sony had hoped it would be. Granted, the two films have hardly been box office flops - far from it in fact - but they haven't been particularly well received critically and they haven't grossed as much as Sony expected them to and, to put in to perspective why, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 performed the worst of the four Marvel movies that were released in 2014 (Guardians of the Galaxy did best, X-Men: Days of Future Past followed and Captain America: The Winter Soldier came third). As a result, Sony have considered scrapping the franchise entirely and allowing Marvel Studios to have Spider-Man back, which resulted in a lot of rumour and hype surrounding the possibility of the Webbed Wonder joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Civil War seems like the ideal time to introduce the character, given that he was quite important in the comic book arc of the same name, but it simply won't happen - much to the disappointment of those fans who believe Spider-Man would be better used on-screen alongside his Avengers team-mates.
