MCU Phase 3: 20 Easter Eggs & References Marvel Should Sneak In

15. A Scott Derrickson Horror Nod

When James Gunn directed Guardians of the Galaxy, he took the opportunity to include a huge amount of Easter eggs, nods and references. One of those nods was to his own movie - the 2006 science fiction-comedy horror offering; Slither - when one of the slug-like creatures from the movie was seen as part of the Collector's collection of rare species and trinkets on Knowhere. With renowned horror direction Scott Derrickson set to direct the mystical Marvel Cinematic Universe offering Doctor Strange, he could quite easily take the opportunity to reference some of his previous films in the movie. Urban Legends: Final Cut, Dracula: 2000, Hellraiser: Inferno, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Scream 4 and Sinister are just some of the horror movies Derrickson has been involved with and any one of those could easily be referenced in Doctor Strange. It would certainly be cool, for example, to see Pinhead on a page in one of Strange's reference books.
