MCU Phase 4: 10 Biggest Mysteries (So Far)

9. Who Called Out To Wanda?

The very last time we saw Wanda Maximoff in the MCU, she was in a secluded, lakeside mountain cabin, studiously reading the Darkhold, which... you know... is never advisable.

If pop culture has taught us anything, it's not to read from demonic grimoires, especially if the cover looks to be made of hellfire, brimstone, or flesh. Yet that's exactly what Wanda was doing, and wouldn't you know it: voices called out to her from the great beyond.

We're led to believe they're the voices of her kids, and sure, it makes sense why you'd think that. They sound like them, and they were calling her "mom" and begging for help. Here's the thing, though: another thing pop culture has taught us all is that if you're reading from a demonic, hellish, Devil book, voices are literally always bad news.

So are these voices actually those of Billy and Tommy? Or are they something darker - something sinister, pulling her towards evil? It's almost certain that these aren't the voices of her kids, but rather something mimicking them to manipulate her. It's already happened in Shang-Chi, with the Dweller-in-Darkness pretending to be Wenwu's deceased wife, preying on his grief to free itself. Who's to say the same thing isn't happening to Wanda?
