MCU Phase 4: 10 Dead Characters Who Could Return

Annette Bening essentially played three roles in the ultra successful Captain Marvel, appearing as Danvers’ version of the Supreme Intelligence, as well as her role as Doctor Wendy Lawson, who was really Mar-Vell.

The Supreme Intelligence offered something unique in the MCU, and while Danvers was able to escape from it, she might not have actually killed it, so it may return. In order for it to take the form of Mar-Vell though, we’d need another meeting between it and Carol.

With Mar-Vell dead, it’s not the future that could hold more screen time for Bening, but the past.

After one movie set in the 90s, Captain Marvel 2 will surely either pick up where that one left off or time skip to the modern day. Either way, as Carol moves forwards, her memories will continue to come back to her, and the full influence of Lawson/Mar-Vell on her life will become apparent.

There’s a slim chance that Mar-Vell survived and continued her work in secret, only coming out of the woodwork when she hears Carol is back on Earth. That seems far fetched though, with Carol’s memories the most logical way for Mar-Vell to return.
