MCU Phase 4: 10 Marvel Movies Taika Waititi Should Direct
8. Hulk
As well as getting the best performance out of Thor, Taika Waititi managed to get an MCU best turn out of Hulk too; easily better than Ang Lee and Eric Bana’s Hulk as well, although that goes without saying.
It stands to reason, therefore, that if Hulk were to get another crack at a solo outing, Waititi would be the most steady hands on the tiller. After two forgettable disappointments, no one is really crying out for another Hulk solo movie, but Ruffalo is yet to have his shot and isn’t tarred by the previous failures.
That said, the MCU has moved on considerably since its beginnings. Ty Burrell and Liv Tyler are extremely unlikely to be asked back, and Tim Roth’s role as Abomination remains under appreciated. General Ross is still around, but there’s not really an established solo universe for Hulk to pick up.
Infinity War though definitely put in the legwork in further establishing the character, following on from the internal dynamic between Hulk and Bruce in Ragnarok. A Professor Hulk storyline would distance itself safely from Bana and Norton’s movies, and would give Waititi the space to run wild.
