MCU Phase 4: 10 Marvel Movies Taika Waititi Should Direct

With the MCU’s ever expanding stable of heroes, it’s surprising that there hasn’t been too much talk of Namor joining their ranks. He’s a big part of so many iconic comic arcs and as a Sub Mariner, offers a unique perspective for his narrative.

There might have been understandable risks with an underwater film, with how easily it could be shot or connect to the wider story on dry land. Luckily, DC have tested the water (pun intended) and with Aquaman proving a huge success, the stage is set for Namor.

As Marvel’s first mutant, he could provide a nice link for the mutants to enter the MCU too if the business deals are sorted out. The real question then though is why should Waititi be the one behind the camera?

Namor’s neo-Shakespearean dialogue is the kind of thing that would flop hard if it was played straight, but allowing Waititi to put his own spin on it could make it hilarious. The MCU is severely lacking battle cries and ‘Imperius Rex!’ would go a long way to fixing that. Taika’s take on someone like Tiger Shark would be a joy to behold as well.
